UGC Releases 2020-21 Academic Calendar for Freshmen – Check New Dates

The University Scholarship Commission (UGC) published on Tuesday the tentative calendar for first-year university students of undergraduate and graduate courses for the 2020-21 session. The UGC session schedule was shared by Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Twitter.

According to the latest UGC calendar, the academic session for freshmen will begin in November, and the delay will also affect the next academic session.

“Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission accepted the Committee’s Report and approved the Guidelines of @ugc_india on the Academic Calendar of the First Year of Undergraduate and Graduate Students of the Universities for the 2020-21 Session,” Tweeted the Minister of Education, Pokhriyal.

Minister Pokhriyal further added that a full refund will be made to students for cancellation of admission until November.

“To avoid parents facing financial hardship due to lockdown and related factors, a full refund of fees will be made on account of all student admissions / migration cancellations, until 11.30.2020, for this same session as special case, “he said.

In April, the UGC had published an alternative academic calendar for universities, with the plan to reopen the universities in September, but the delay in entrance exams and the increase in covid infections pushed the session by two months.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court also asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to declare the shared exam results as soon as possible and coordinate with UGC to allow around 2 lakh of students to apply to universities in the current academic year.
