UGC NET exam postponed; to be held from September 24

NTA has finally given an update on the June-September UGC NET exam. The UGC NET exam has been postponed and will now take place starting September 24. The remaining details will be published soon on the official website.

The exam was scheduled to take place September 16-25. The exam has been postponed as the postponed ICAR exams are scheduled to take place on those dates. Some candidates are scheduled to appear on both exams and therefore they asked NTA to postpone the UGC NET exam.

The official notification reads: ‘This is due to some common candidates in both exams and applications received from them. The UGC-NET 2020 exam will now take place on September 24. The exact timing of the topic and shift details will be uploaded later. ‘

Candidates are encouraged to keep checking both the official NTA website and the official UGC NET website for updates on the exam and admission card.

The UGC NET exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Professor or Junior Researcher (JRF) at various institutions. The exam is conducted for various subjects and 6% of the best raters obtain the NET certification.

The June 2020 exam, along with several other exams, had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown. The new schedule for various exams was released by the NTA in the last week of August.
