“We will have to take more precautions after Diwali. The threat of the coronavirus has not passed. Several countries are seeing the second wave, ”Thackeray said.
He added: “We are in a dangerous curve. We have to decide whether we want to do a lockdown or follow all the mandatory Covid-19 security protocols. “
Thackeray said that Delhi is facing a third wave and due to the ongoing disease outbreak, Ahmedabad and other cities are seeing night curfews.
“The spiral of cases in Delhi is cause for concern and there is an overnight curfew in Ahmedabad. I don’t want another blockade, but they must also understand the seriousness of the situation, ”said Maharashtra’s chief minister.
He also urged people not to crowd the temples, even as the state government has gone ahead with the opening and asked people to avoid moving unnecessarily.
“The unlocking process did not mean that the pandemic is over. Although places of religious worship have been reopened, avoid the crowds there. Several festivals took place during the pandemic and most people celebrated it without crowds. We have been able to control the peak, but we cannot be careless, ”said the prime minister.
Underscoring his concern, Thackeray said: “Today the case count is down, but we are at a crossroads. Where do we want to go? We need to keep our actions under control. “
The prime minister urged people to avoid crowds, wear masks and keep their hands disinfected to combat viral contagion, adding that while he has been advised to impose a night curfew, he does not believe that anything can be achieved by imposing such restrictions. .
Adding that confusion still persists over the availability of the Covid-19 vaccine, Thackeray said that people have no choice but to have the mandatory use of masks, physical distancing and hand disinfection. He also informed people about post-Covid-19 side effects, saying: “Post-Covid-19 side effects are serious and can be seen impacting the brain, lungs, kidneys, among other organs. Pollution is also affecting people with comorbidities. “
On Sunday, Maharashtra added 5,753 cases of infection, bringing the state’s cumulative tally to 1780,208. The death toll in the state rose to 46,623 after 50 more people died from the viral infection in the past 24 hours. The state’s recovery rate is now 92.75 percent, while the death rate is 2.62 percent.
