Two migrants who returned to Uttar Pradesh from Gujarat on two special Sharmik special trains died Saturday in separate incidents.
Railroad Police Superintendent Soumitra Yadav said in the first incident that a 29-year-old migrant worker from Sitapur, identified as Kanhaiya Lal, died in a Shramik Special returning from Bhavnagar in Gujarat to Basti in Uttar Pradesh.
Yadav said Kanhaiya Lal suddenly collapsed in his seat on the train, causing his passengers to rush to help him.
As the man did not respond, the passengers informed the railway staff, who, in turn, relayed the message to the Lucknow station master.
When the train reached Lucknow, doctors examined the man and found him dead, the SP said, adding that the victim’s relatives in Sitapur have been informed of the incident.
Kanhaiya Lal’s body would be released to her family members after the autopsy, she said.
In the other incident, a 34-year-old man was found dead on a train returning from Dhola in Gujarat, SP said.
The victim was identified as Hiralal Bind, who was found unconscious during train control after all of her passengers had landed her in Lucknow.
He was rushed to the Balrampur Hospital where doctors declared him dead, the SP said, adding that members of his family have been informed.
When asked about the incidents, the additional chief secretary (household), Awanish Awasthi, said he was aware of them.
The government is taking a call about what help could be provided to his family members, he said.
