India suffered a major blow before Test 2 at MCG against Australia with Mohammed Shami sustaining a broken arm and was ruled out for the remainder of the series. The right arm sprinter received a blow to the forearm on Day 3 of the first test in Adelaide when he tried to dodge a scorching gorilla from Australian sprinter Pat Cummins.
With Ishant Sharma absent, India will enter the remainder of the tournament not only without their captain Virat Kohli (who has been granted paternity leave), but also without their two regular bowlers, Shami and Ishant Sharma.

But Australian batsman Steve Smith believes the Indian team has two good bowling options in Mohammad Siraj and Navdeep Saini, who can achieve great achievements in their test careers.
“I think they are two quality bowlers who can have good races at the test. Obviously, they also miss Ishant (Sharma), which is a great loss for them in terms of experience, ”Smith told reporters, according to the PTI news agency.

Meanwhile, Smith, who was fired for a score of 1 by knocker R Ashwin, after facing 28 deliveries in the Day / Night Test, said he has learned a lesson from mistakes.
“The spinners that do well here are generally the ones that go over the ball and hit you with more bounce or in the air rather than the ones that surround the ball,” Smith said.
“It’s about finding a way to adapt and that’s what the best players in the world do. Hopefully I’ll learn something from that, move on and play a little better in the next game, ”he explained.
The two teams will meet again in the Boxing Day test that begins on Saturday. Australia currently leads the four-game test series 1-0.
