He said he also resigned from the party’s membership.
Later, Venkatesan told the media that he had left the MLA position only and was still at the DMK.
“… I was unable to meet the needs of the people in my constituency as there was no allocation of funds under the MLA Local Area Development fund,” he said.
Four MLAs in Congress, including former ministers A Namassivayam (now in BJP) and Malladi Krishna Rao, had resigned, while another party lawmaker was previously disqualified.
Narayanasamy’s confidant, A John Kumar, had resigned this week.
Governor of Telangana Tamilisai Soundararajan, delivered additional charge of Puducherry, had ordered Narayanasamy to demonstrate the majority on Thursday by ordering a floor test on February 22.
The resignation of two MLAs comes on a day when members of the ruling party are scheduled to meet under the CM to discuss the future course of action, although similar discussions on February 18 yielded no results.
