It is a pleasure to see Sarfraz Ahmed; It may not always be because of his cricket, but the innocent antics that he does on a regular basis behind the stumps. After returning to the side almost after a year, the former captain refused to perplex Moeen Ali, who then went on to hit a fantastic half-century.
Sarfraz Ahmed, a laid-back character on and off the pitch, may not realize the cult status he has for the antics he does, perhaps unknowingly. Whether it’s his “gallis” to his teammates or perhaps his unrestricted comments in post-game presentations, Sarfraz makes him stand out. He was only absent since Pakistan’s management decided to remove him last year, but once he returned to the team 11 months after playing his last game for the country, he was at the center of all the attraction once again.
By reducing England to 86/4 in 10 overs, Pakistan had the hosts on the mat. Given Moeen Ali’s current form, it was supposed to be a side ride, and they did exactly that when Imad Wasim floated a delivery past the off-road bat.
On the fourth ball of the 11th, Moeen, understandably unconfident, came out to hit Imad Wasim out of the park, but was unable to connect with the ball. Sarfraz was standing near the stumps and any guardian, in their right mind, would have made the stump forever. However, for reasons known only to him, the former Pakistani captain did not even try to withdraw the bail. Moeen went on to score 61 of 33 balls after that, despite Pakistan clinching a five-run victory to close the series 1-1.
