The Chennai Super Kings, under the bomb, were forced to field first after KL Rahul won the toss and chose to hit in ‘first batter’ paradise in Dubai. As CSK struggled to keep up with KXIP’s hitting force, they had an innate drop in the middle between Jadhav and Jadeja.
Batting first, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal provided Kings XI Punjab with the most delightful of openings, facing the difficult task of playing against Deepak Chahar and Sam Curran. While Chahar annoyed the duo early on, the starters managed to laugh last when they crushed the bowlers for a really good start. Suddenly, after the end of the eight, they found themselves in a good position, at 61 with no loss, which also increased the frustration in the Chennai unit.
In particular, Stephen Fleming was clearly distraught and angered by his fielders’ attempt early in the innings, which clearly spread to the field. Chawla immediately attacked from MS Dhoni’s side, eliminating the menacing Agarwal in the first installment. Since that, Mandeep Singh recorded a good association with Rahul before Mandeep strayed too far from the fold. However, with Nicholas Pooran hitting the ball left to right and to center, frustration was clearly visible on the faces of his fielders.
At the other end, Rahul also continued to loot bowlers for limits, making life more difficult for CSK players. In the 16th of the inning, with English all-rounder Sam Curran bowling, Pooran launched a slower pitch straight into the depths, finding the sloppy Kedar Jadhav, who didn’t even try to get to the ball first. Ultimately, this mishap ensured that the two Punjab hitters ran a double, prompting Jadeja to show his frustration on Jadhav, before the next installment, caught on camera.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
Poorn hit the ball towards Jadhav, he caught it nicely with one knee on the ground and they took 2. And haha he said something. And Jadhav is pissed off.
