The late actress Chitra’s husband, Hemanath, was arrested by the police.
The husband of popular television actress VJ Chitra, Hemanath, was arrested by Nazrathpet police on December 15 for alleged complicity in suicide. The police had gathered evidence to present a case against Hemanath. Chitra in the early morning of December 9 was found hanging in her hotel room. He was 28 years old. Chitra rose to fame with her stint as a serial actress at Pandian Stores.
VJ CHITRA HEMANATH’S HUSBAND ARRESTED
Chitra’s husband, Hemanath, was arrested by the police and filed in Poonamalle High Court. He is now housed in Ponneri jail after being questioned for six days. He has been booked under Section 306 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code). Reportedly, the police had gathered sufficient evidence against him. More details about Hemanath’s arrest will be released soon.
Chitra and Hemanath had registered their wedding two months ago. They had also planned a traditional wedding and reception in January.
Hemanath reportedly disliked Chitra performing intimate scenes on her series and the dance reality shows that she used to perform. The couple had a nasty argument regarding the same. Previously, it was reported that Hemanath went through the Pandian Stores sets and scolded her.
Chitra’s mother, Vijaya, claimed that her daughter had not hanged herself and demanded a fair investigation.
VJ CHITRA FOUND HANGING IN HER HOTEL ROOM
On December 9, Chitra had arrived at her hotel in Nazrathpet on the outskirts of Chennai around 2.30am. He wanted to cool off and had closed the door from the inside. Since Chitra did not open the door for a long time, Hemanath, with the help of the hotel staff, unlocked the door with a spare key.
Hemanath and the hotel staff found Chitra hanging from the ceiling fan. Initial reports from the investigation suggested that it was a suicide case and that the scars on her face were caused by herself.
Since Chitra died within seven years of marriage, RDO (Divisional Revenue Officer) has been investigating the case.
