Sale of unviable assets happening since 1974, 129 sold to date: TTD
In a press release, TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy said as per GO MS No 311 issued by the directorate general of Revenue (Endowments) on the 9th of April 1990, it is clearly mentioned that the TTD Board is empowered to sell or lease to TTD properties if they are advantageous to Devasthanams. In addition, the sale of such unworkable and unmanageable assets has been going on since 1974 and until 2014, a total of 129 such properties were auctioned off. Based on the recommendations of the Sub-Committee constituted with TTD members of the Board of trustees, TTD in January 30, 2016 resolved to have 50 unworkable properties in other parts of the country. In consequence, a report that documents the value of the 23 properties in the state of Tamil Nadu, was presented to the board of directors.
“It is not a new decision. It was adopted by the previous Board of Trustees and are only reiterated in the meeting of the board held in the month of February. The small land holdings or sites of houses of 50 cents to 1 acre donated to the temple, mainly in the state of Tamil Nadu, and a couple of places in Rishikesh is being invaded. Therefore, the TTD Board decided to liquidate them through an auction,” Subba Reddy said. The State government is in no way connected to him, he clarified.
The TTD over the years has been the reception of such properties donated to the Lord by different methods. One way is the donation of the property to the Lord Venkateswara and the other form is the registration of the property in the name of the Lord, or TTD. However, another way of the donation of the land is through the will. The TTD has been trying to get rid of the 23 properties in the state of Tamil Nadu from 2014-15. BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana shot in a letter to the prime Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy describes as the most disastrous, and demanded that the move be withdrawn immediately. The BJP State chief said that it is very clear that the YSRC government liquidate all the assets of the Hindu temples in the State and the ruin, and Hinduism.
“Our party is not going to allow this anti-Hindu acts of his government. I also warn you that millions of Hindus in the world will raise their voice,” he said. The former TTD Trust Board member and TDP leader Bonda Umamaheswara Rao said that the government was trying to get rid of the valuable lands of the TTD in the cheapest prices for YSRC minions.
