New Delhi:
Ahead of the next round of talks between the Center and agitator farmers, Congress said Monday that it would be a “true test of nationalism” and warned that no government can face the wrath of farmers “who believe they are being misled.”
The government is holding the seventh round of talks with the restless farmers and their leaders in Vigyan Bhawan.
Congressional Chief Spokesman Randeep Surjewala said on Twitter: “Today is the true test of ‘nationalism.’ Will the Modi government act in the ‘national interest’ or ‘Crony’s corporate interest’?”
Congress has been demanding the repeal of the three farm laws whose enactment has sparked a massive outcry from farmers.
Congressional Leader Rahul Gandhi said those who sit under the dripping tents during winter rains “are our own fearless farmers and not strangers.”
There is nothing left to see when it comes to the government’s “brutality” towards farmers, he claimed, while sharing some images of agitated farmers braving the winter cold while protesting on the Delhi borders.
Congressional leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that around 60 farmers lost their lives in the course of the upheaval due to “government arrogance.”
Sharing a video of the tear gas projectiles being thrown at them, he asked how farmers can trust this government.
” On the one hand, the government is calling on farmers to engage in talks and, on the other, it is firing tar gas projectiles at them in this winter cold. Around 60 farmers have lost their lives due to this arrogant and cruel behavior by the government. How can farmers trust this cruel government? ”He asked in a tweet in Hindi.
The leader of Congress, P Chidambaram, quoted the words of the prominent poet Saint Tiruvalluvar who, noted the leader of Congress, wrote about 2,000 years ago that “if farmers cross their hands, even a person who has renounced life cannot survive. “
“How true it is today. No government can face the wrath of farmers who believe they are being misled,” he said on Twitter.
