TRP scam case | Move Bombay High Court First, Supreme Court Tells Arnab Goswami


“How can we consider a petition like this without the High Court not investigating it first?” Asks Judge Chandrachud.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court asked ARG Outlier Media and journalist Arnab Goswami to have faith in the Bombay High Court instead of going directly to the high court with their statement against the Mumbai police investigation in the Television Rating scam case. “I think your client’s office is in Worli. It is not far from Flora Fountain and Bombay High Court. Why don’t you go there under section 226? [of the Constitution] or under Section 482 [of the Code of Criminal Procedure to quash the FIR]… ”Judge DY Chandrachud asked lead attorney Harish Salve, who appears for ARG and Mr. Goswami.

Judges Indu Malhotra and Indira Banerjee, on the bench, also suggested that the parties should move to the Superior Court.

“How can we consider a petition like this without the Superior Court not studying it first? Go to Superior Court. We must have faith in our higher courts. They have been working during the pandemic, ”said Judge Chandrachud.

Mr. Salve said he would drop the case then and “go to Flora Fountain.”

The court agreed and gave them the freedom to go to Superior Court according to the appropriate legal procedure.
