With party chair JP Nadda stepping in to resolve the internal crisis in the BJP’s Tripura unit, Tripura’s chief minister, Biplab Kumar Deb, has been asked to cancel the public meeting he announced on Tuesday.

BJP sources both Nadda and Tripura’s national secretary in charge Vinod Sonkar spoke with Deb on Tuesday night. “After discussions it was decided that the Chief Minister will not hold any meetings. There is no threat to his leadership in the state and he will continue to serve the people of Tripura as chief minister. Let the organization handle the problems in the game, “Sonkar told The Indian Express.
The sources said that the national leadership will continue its efforts to resolve differences in the party.

Events took an unpleasant turn Sunday when Sonkar first visited the state after he took office. a group of revelers raised slogans against Deb. Associates of the Chief Minister had alleged that the protest was organized by his party rival Sudip Deb Barman. Barman and some of the MLA had come to Delhi to meet with national leaders in October with the demand to change the prime minister.

After Sunday’s incident, Deb addressed a press conference and announced that she would seek the “mandate of the people” on December 13 at a public rally and had urged people to show their support for her.
