Calcutta:
When several Trinamool Congressional leaders recently joined the BJP, another prominent party, MLA, has taken on some of their colleagues and described them as “termites.” In an interview with NDTV, Baishali Dalmiya said that he is not considering joining the BJP but that he will remain within the party and fight against elements that are working against the state and the interests of the party.
The Bally MLA also said that this is the same reason another former cricketer, Lakshmi Ratan Shukla, also left the match. Ms. Dalmiya, 52, was seen with Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee when she visited former India Captain and BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly, who is recovering at Woodlands Hospital.
“I have complaints against some people who are working against the party, against the people and against the community I serve. I have reservations against them. There are people in my area who are not allowing businesses in Howrah to prosper. There are people who are trying to create obstacles for the MLA, MPs and other party leaders, “Ms Dalmiya told NDTV.
“I want these termites – I call them termites – eradicated so that it is good for the community, it is good for the common people, it is good for the high-level party workers who have given their blood and sweat for the party. But I don’t get any position in the party just because of these few people, ”he added.
When asked if he was also addressing the BJP, he said: “I have not thought about it because I have a lot of patience and I will try to fight to the end. That is why I speak about these issues.” “
Baishali Dalmiya is the daughter of former BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya, and was awarded a TMC ticket by Bally in the last election. She won the seat but has become one of the dissident voices within the party in the run-up to this year’s elections. Several other Trinamool MLAs have resigned from the party due to differences in the way they operate, the most prominent name being Suvendu Adhikari, who has since joined the BJP.
Beating up corrupt party officials, Ms Dalmiya told NDTV: “There are several people here who are involved in illegal construction, taking money from contractors who work for the government or harassing factory owners. This but there are a few and I raise my voice against them. “
