“I tried to project the fact that Bengal is the safest state for women, unlike Uttar Pradesh, ruled by the BJP, where women were raped in Hathras and their parents were shot for protesting. The BJP IT cell edited the footage for cheap politics, “he added. it said in a statement.
Ms. Mukherjee also posted a video of what she claimed was her original comment on her Facebook page in which she is seen walking in her constituency soliciting votes and telling voters, “Think twice before voting for BJP, he has his mother and sisters at home. ” .
She is also seen saying: “In Didi, Bengal women are safe. Do not vote for BJP if you do not want Bengal to become another Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, ruled by BJP.”
Actor turned BJP leader Rupa Bhattacharya attacked Ms Mukherjee in a post that said: “The statements of the alleged actress turned politician like you make us ashamed.
“An actress must have refined taste … If you think making such an ugly comment will make the Trinamool Congress workers love you, rest assured that they will hate your hypocrisy from the bottom of your heart,” Bhattacharya said.
Trinamool Congressional Minister Sashi Panja said that some of Koushani Mukherjee’s comments remained in the edited video, but not all of the footage.
