The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, said on Wednesday that the people of Kashmir do not feel Indian at the moment and that they would rather be ruled by the Chinese. In an interview with The Wire, the head of the National Conference described Kashmiris as “slaves” who were treated as second-class citizens of the country.

Undoing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claims that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have agreed to the repeal of Article 370 in August last year, Abdullah said that if army troops were withdrawn from the streets of Kashmir, people would leave in great quantities. to protest against the movement.

The Center, on August 5, 2019, repealed article 370 of the Constitution which granted a special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He said Article 370 stopped the development of the state, impeded proper education, health care and the growth of industries, and did not help curb terrorism at J&K either. Shortly after the repeal, the government imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the Valley that prohibits more than five people from gathering at a particular location at a time.

According to Abdullah’s statement in the interview, Kashmiris have lost the trust that bound them to the rest of the country. They no longer trust the government, he said. Claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “misled and misled” him, Abdullah further said that when he had questioned the Prime Minister about the increase in the number of troops in the Valley, the latter deliberately did his best to give him the impression that it was simply for security reasons.

About 72 hours before the repeal of section 370, Modi had met with Abdullah along with another North Carolina leader, Sheikh Abudallah, where they were assured of the continuation of sections 370 and 35A in the state. Modi did not say a word about Articles 370 and 35A, Abdullah said, so he believed the two articles were not in danger.

Earlier, during his first hearing interview after the repeal of Article 370, Abdullah reportedly said that his party would continue to challenge the changes in the special status granted to J&K through all democratic means.
