Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh:
A young pilot-in-training died after the four-seater plane he was flying crashed Monday in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities suspect the plane crashed due to bad weather. The small plane crashed into farmland around 11:30 am, Rajesh Kumar, Azamgarh district magistrate, told the Press Trust of India news agency.
“The plane had taken off around 10:30 am from a training institute and was being controlled by a pilot in training. There was only one person on board,” Kumar added.
The pilot has been identified as Konark Saran, 21, a resident of Palwal in Haryana, a spokesman for the training institute said. The aircraft belonged to state-owned Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA), located in Amethi, authorities confirmed.

“Saran had 125 hours of trainee flight experience, including more than 52 solo hours. He was a skilled trainee with a very good track record. At first glance, it appears that his plane got caught in dense cumulonimbus clouds, which caused the incident, “the spokesman said, adding that he was flying a” four-seater SOCATA TB 20 aircraft with fully equipped avionics and related instruments. ”
The incident is “most regrettable and all due procedures are being carried out,” added the spokesman for the training school. Officials from the Azamgarh administration and the police have inspected the accident site.
