Vadodara: At least 10 people were killed and 16 others injured when a mini-truck they were traveling in collided with another truck on the outskirts of the Gujarat city of Vadodara early Wednesday morning, police said.
The accident took place in the Waghodia circle near the city around 2.45 am as the victims were on their way to Pavagadh in the Panchmahal district, Vadodara Police Deputy Commissioner Karanraj Vaghela said.
“At least 10 people, including five women, were killed in the accident. The van, which was carrying about 25 people, collided with a trailer from behind,” said Vadodara Police Commissioner RB Brahmbhatt.
The injured people were rushed to a civilian hospital, Vaghela said.
Gujarat’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani expressed regret at the loss of life in the accident.
“Saddened by the loss of life due to a road accident near Vadodara. He instructed officials to do what is necessary. May the injured recover as soon as possible. I pray for the deceased souls. Om Shanti,” Rupani tweeted.

An investigation is underway to find out the cause of the accident, he said.
