Tottenham – Mourinho upset by Klopp’s behavior on the touchline

Tottenham Hotspur manager José Mourinho criticized the behavior of Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool coaches following their 2-1 Premier League win on Wednesday.

The teams met in a top-of-the-table clash at Anfield that saw Liverpool score on a last-minute winner by Roberto Firmino to move three points ahead of Spurs.

– Liverpool standings: Firmino 9/10, Salah 8/10 in the victory of Spurs
– Tottenham ratings: They are 7/10, but the defense can not hold

But Mourinho was upset by what he perceived as pressure from Liverpool’s technical staff on the match officials and said it was his fault that he replaced Giovani Lo Celso, who had set up Son Heung-Min’s goal for Tottenham.

“We were playing to win, we were not playing to get a point,” Mourinho said. “One point would have been a fairly fair result, but we played to win and had the best chance of winning it. The timing of the chances and the reaction they had, they were in trouble.

“The game was always under control. I feel like it was a very undeserved result, but that’s football. At half-time we moved the pieces a bit, but in general the game was always under control and I’m very satisfied with the performance.”

“The changes were to find counterattack situations, which we did immediately, but with [Lo Celso]The yellow card and the incredible pressure that these guys on the touchline put on the referees, I was scared of the yellow card and had to take it out.

“It is not I who should talk to my colleagues about their behavior on the touchline.”

Klopp played down his post-match conversation with Mourinho, adding: “Nothing serious, he said it himself, so I don’t have to repeat it. There’s no discussion.”

But the Liverpool manager was more outspoken in praising his team, claiming that they dominated procedures and that the Spurs goal should not have been kept.

“A good game against a counterattack monster, the possession we had, we did incredibly well,” Klopp said. “Yes, they have scored a goal, they have had two occasions, apart from that we control the game and they are three massively deserved points and I am happy.

“For me it’s offside [the Spurs goal]. They look at it 20 times, but when I saw it, it was off the game. There is no one to blame; the best way to defend Tottenham is to keep the ball all the time.

“It was a really good game, and I am very happy that we scored that goal because it felt like 70% of the ball against a superior team,” Klopp added. “Cop [Firmino], what a headline, I’m over the moon for him. What game did he play, those moves, it opens up all the other gaps. “
