New Delhi: The total number of Covid-19 tests conducted in India surpassed 7 million rupees on Saturday, the government said.
A total of 85,362 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours in the country. 75% of the new confirmed cases are concentrated in 10 states / UT, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Maharashtra continues to top this list. It has only contributed more than 17,000, followed by Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh with more than 8,000 and 7,000 cases respectively.

The total number of COVID-19 recoveries rose to 48,49,584 on Saturday with 93,420 patients recovering from the disease in one day, which is more than the number of new cases recorded during the same period, the Health Ministry said. of the union.
With the recovery rate rising to 82.14 percent, the ministry said India has maintained its highest global ranking in total recoveries with such high successive single-day numbers.
“As India records more recoveries than new cases, the gap between recovered and active cases is continually widening. Recoveries are more than five times the active cases of coronavirus infection,” he said.
Recovered cases exceed active cases (9,60,969) by almost 39 lakh.
“This has also ensured that active cases represent only 16.28 percent of total cases. This has remained on its path of steady decline,” the ministry said.
India has substantially improved its testing infrastructure across the country. To date, there are 1,823 laboratories, including 1,086 government laboratories and 737 private ones.
India’s testing capacities have increased to more than 14 lakh per day.
13,41,535 tests were performed in the last 24 hours. The total number of tests today crossed 7 million rupees to 7.02.69.975.
“A high level of testing leads to early identification of positive cases. As the evidence has revealed, eventually the Positivity Rate will drop when combined with higher testing,” the ministry said in an official statement.
The national cumulative positivity rate is 8.40% and tests per million currently stand at 50,920.
