The trailer for Torbaaz, starring Sanjay Dutt and Nargis Fakhri, is out now. The film, directed by Girish Malik, features Sanjay in the role of a former army doctor, Nasser Khan, who uses cricket to brighten the lives of children living in refugee camps in Afghanistan.
The trailer begins with the character of Sanjay Dutt promising to teach cricket to children who he believes are “not terrorists but the first victim of terrorism.” We soon meet the leader of a terrorist group, played by Rahul Dev, who considers children living in refugee camps as his army and wishes to use them as suicide bombers. Nargis Fakhri appears as an Afghan woman who runs an NGO and helps Sanjay improve the lives of these children.
Apart from Sanjay, what is striking are the beautiful Kyrgyz places that have been captured well, which gives Torbaaz an aesthetic look. Torbaaz’s official synopsis reads: “Torbaaz is the story of a man who rises above his personal tragedy and decides to take matters into his own hands. He is determined to train the children of refugee camps in cricket, who are otherwise destined to become suicide bombers. Will he be able to divert them from the path of destruction? “
Happy to return to the screen with a ‘powerful movie’, Sanjay Dutt shared in a statement: “The story of Torbaaz is closely aligned with the reality of Afghanistan, and the beautiful description of cricket as a means of liberation is equally true for children. as it is for my character, Nasser Khan, who is recovering from a personal tragedy. I am truly grateful for all the love and support that I have received over the past few months and am happy to be back on screen with this powerful film. “
Torbaaz is Sanjay’s first film to be released after his recovery from cancer. Produced by Raju Chadha and Rahul Mittra, it premieres on Netflix on December 11. Pransh Chopra and Humayoon Shams Khan also appear in the film.
