The Tamil Nadu government on Friday allowed limited post-production work to run throughout the Tamil film industry. With the national shutdown due to the current COVID-19 crisis lasting more than a month, producers had sought some relaxation from the government.
“Tamil film producers and small screen producers requested that, due to the coronavirus blockade, no work has been done for the past 50 days, putting a question mark on the livelihood of many. Therefore, they have requested the government that, at this time, only post-production work is allowed, ”said a press release from the state government.
“Having duly considered the producers’ request, the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has allowed the post production work mentioned below since May 11,” he added.
Under the latest regulations, editing work can be resumed with a maximum of five people.
Post-production work including dubbing, DI (Digital Intermediate) work, re-recording, and sound design / mixing can be done with up to five people.
Visual Effects (VFX) and Computer Generated Images (CGI) can also be resumed with 10 to 15 people.
Production houses are responsible for acquiring and granting their post-production employees the necessary permits to do the job.
“(Production companies) are asked to make sure that their employees follow social distancing, wear masks, use disinfectants and resume work following all protocols of the central and state government,” the government statement read. from Tamil Nadu.
