TN deputy CM says AIADMK-BJP alliance is ready for 2021 elections


New Delhi: During Union Interior Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Chennai on Saturday, O. Panneerselvam, Executive Vice President of Tamil Nadu and coordinator of AIADMK, said that the party will continue its alliance with BJP in the 2021 elections.

Union Interior Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for phase two of the Chennai metro train project built at a cost 61,843 crore and virtually dedicated the new reservoir at Thervaikandigai ( 380 crore) to the people of Chennai on Saturday.

Present on the occasion were the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi Palaniswami, and his deputy O Panneerselvam. The Union Minister also paid tribute to former Chief Ministers Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran (popularly known as MGR) and Jayalalithaa at today’s event.

Shah said the country had joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and was doing better than even developed countries in handling contagion.

“Not only the government and its machinery, but 130 crore Indian rupees are waging a battle against Covid-19 under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi,” Amit Shah said in Chennai.

After praising the government of Tamil Nadu for its effective handling of the situation under the leadership of Palaniswami-Panneerselvam, he said that it was properly implementing the various instructions of the Center on the matter.

“The world and the country are fighting COVID-19. The country has dealt with it successfully under Prime Minister Modi. On a comparative note, India has fared better than many developed countries,” he said.

“In all humility, we declare that the plans and funds provided to Tamil Nadu by the central government are not intended to help, but it is the right of Tamil Nadu that was not being given to it, but Modiji made sure that now Tamil Nadu gets its rights, “Shah said after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for several development projects in Chennai.

“Sometimes I heard DMK leaders talk about the injustice committed against Tamil Nadu. DMK and Congress were at the Center for ten years. We are ready for a debate on whether Tamil Nadu received more aid in those ten years or during the mandate. of our government, “he added.

He reminded the people of the state that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tamil families when he visited Jaffna.

“When Modi ji visited Sri Lanka, he did not forget Jaffna. He visited the Tamil colonies there and met with Tamil brothers and sisters. He laid the foundation stone to provide them with houses. Over 50,000 Tamils ​​will get houses and damaged temples will be rejuvenated in Sri Lanka, “Shah said.

“After Modi Ji came to power, the competitiveness between the states has increased. I am happy that Tamil Nadu has secured the first place among the well-governed states this year. The Interior Minister is also slated to lay the groundwork for several worthwhile infrastructure projects 67,378 crore along with the launch of an elevated corridor on Coimbatore-Avinashi Road ( 1,620 crore), construction of a new dam across the Cauvery at Nanjai Pugalur in the Karur district ( 406 crore), Chennai Trade Center extension project ( 309 crore), terminal of the Indian Oil Corporation in Vallur in the district of Tiruvallur ( 900 crore), lubricants plant in Amullaivoyal ( 1,400 crore) and a new pier at the port of Kamarajar in Chennai ( 900 crore) to boost cargo handling, according to an official statement.

Shah’s visit takes on significance as the BJP prepares for the Assembly elections scheduled for mid-2021 in Tamil Nadu.
