Titwala woman found unconscious near Vashi train station; police suspect rape

Navi Mumbai: A woman was found lying unconscious by the train tracks near Vashi in Navi Mumbaithe police reported.

A machinist of a local train saw the 25-year-old woman lying near the creek bridge near the train station on Tuesday. As the woman was injured, she was admitted to a hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

Police officers said Friday they suspect she was raped and that an unidentified person tried to kill her.

“During the investigation, it came to light that the victim remains in Titwala in Thane district and works in Powai in Mumbai. I used to go to his residence only once a week, “said a policeman.

Delving into more detail, the officer said: “She came home last Sunday and then returned to work the next day. She did not contact her family members for the next two days. On Tuesday, she was found unconscious on the tracks.” .

After the driver found her, she was initially taken to Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Vashi Hospital. After preliminary treatment there, she was transferred to JJ Hospital in Mumbai.

According to the police, the injuries sustained by the woman indicate that another person allegedly tried to kill her. A crime was registered under section 307 (attempted murder), the official said, adding that prima facie she was also sexually assaulted. Consequently, section 376 of the IPC (violation) was added to the case.

Police suspect that there may have been an attempt to remove the woman from the moving train after the sexual assault.

“As the woman is not in a position to speak, her statement has not yet been recorded. She is recovering in hospital,” the official said.
