In TIRUPATI :
When the devotees have been barred from the darshan of Lord Venkateswara in the temple of Tirupati from March 20, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sri Venkateswara temple authorities, have decided to sell ‘Tirupati laddu Prasadam’ or offering sacred among the devotees in the 50% discount in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad and all the district headquarters in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The 175 gr laddu, which has a price of 50 each, are sold at subsidized price of 25 as a token of gift to the devotees in the COVID-19 lock period.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which manages the affairs of the world’s richest Hindu temple, took the decision in view of the ongoing uncertainty about the resumption of darshan.

It has been two months since the darshan was arrested by devotees in the hill of the sanctuary, in view of the security lock in order to contain the spread of the Covid-19.

TTD Trust Board Chairman Y. V Subba Reddy said the laddu prasadam will be available soon in all TTD Kalyana Mandapams and information centres present in all the 13 district headquarters, in Andhra Pradesh, with Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore.

He said that the resumption of Srivari darshan to the devotees depends on the Central government in the decision to lift the blockade. “We have been receiving e-mails and phones at the time of resuming the darshan. But it all depends on the government’s decision to lift blockade,” he said.

Reddy said that despite the blockade of the restrictions, the devotees were to contribute generously through the e-Hundi and, therefore, expressed his immense devotion. During the month of April 2020, the e-Hundi collection stood at 1.97 crore, an increase of 18 lakh on the contribution made by the devotees electronically during the same month last year.

The devotees who require bulk quantities please contact with the Srivari Temple Deputy EO in 9849575952 and Potu Peishkar in 9701092777 for your additional requirement whose delivery would be done at TTD centres. The beginning of Laddu sales by TTD is decided in two or three days.

Reddy also denied the media reports and social media messages that TTD is facing a financial crisis and could not pay the salaries of the TTD staff. He said that salaries had been paid during the last two months, and would be given in May and June also.
