IAS Tina Dabi, Athar Khan file for divorce

New Delhi: IAS leader Tina Dabi and IAS Athar Aamir Khan, who married in 2018, filed for divorce. The couple have filed for divorce by mutual consent in a family court in Jaipur. Notably, Dabi had spearheaded the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam in 2015, while Khan had secured second place in the prestigious public service exams the same year.

Avoiding interfaith taboos, IAS officers had married in Kashmir in 2018.

After getting married in Kashmir, the couple held their wedding reception in Delhi, which was attended by India’s Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, former Lok Sabha President Sumitra Mahajan, and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Tina and Khan were married in a judicial ceremony in Jaipur of Rajasthan and were married again in the latter’s home state, Jammu and Pahalgam of Kashmir. The two IAS officers from the Rajasthan cadre were reported to have approached each other during their training period.

Dabi became the first Dalit girl to pass the UPSC exam on her first attempt.

It should be remembered that Hindu Mahasabha had expressed dissatisfaction with Tina’s decision to marry Khan. The Hindu Mahasabha had written a letter to the parents of the first of the IAS urging them to cancel the wedding or convince Khan to convert. In their letter, the group had said that marriage will promote love jihad.

Tina had once written a post on Facebook that said: “Like any independent freethinking woman, I have the right to certain options. I am very happy with my choice and so is Aamir. Our parents are happy too. But there will always be those elements, that little girl. minority who will always make negative comments about dating someone of another religion. ”
