Times Now posts a tweet from a fake account of Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister as ‘breaking news’

On August 28, Times Now reported on an image posted by the @iaMeetuSingh Twitter account claiming to be the “oOfficial Account ”from the sister of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14. @IaMeetuSingh tweeted a photo of the late actor with his sister Meetu Singh and wrote: “Missing you immensely, my soul mate @itsSSR; you’ll always be in my heart…. There are no words to describe the void. “This was retweeted less than 300 times. (archived link)

Times Now not only tweeted about the account, but also relayed it as a news flash.

Times Now falls in love with the imposter account

Sushant Singh Rajput reportedly had four sisters, Shweta, Priyanka, Meetu, and Neetu. Alt News conducted a keyword search on Twitter and found that on August 19, Shweta tweeted that @iaMeetuSingh is a fake account.

Shweta follows the genuine Meetu account which is @divinemitz.

Additionally, Alt News discovered that the image posted by the imposter account was previously shared by Meetu on its Instagram account.

Also, the caption used to post the image was identical to the tweet made by Sushant’s sister Priyanka on August 3.

There are several other suggestions suggesting that @iaMeetuSingh is an impostor account. It is newly created and has far fewer followers than the genuine Meetu account. This misinformation was previously verified by Boomlive.

Times Nows fell in love with an imposter account and turned it into “breaking news.” Previously, IANS had promoted tweets using a fake account posing as Sushant Singh Rajput’s father and Aaj Tak had fallen in love with a fake account dedicated to the actor himself.
