Sports organizations around the world are feeling the impact of the economic slowdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Sports around the world rely heavily on sponsorship revenue, and since sports aren’t played anywhere, everyone is suffering.
Cricket Australia also (CA) is feeling the pressure before the deadline to announce annual player contracts. He is currently in talks with the Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) on the matter.
Speaking on the matter, Australian Test Captain Tim Paine has said that the players understand the gravity of the situation and will not be greedy, but has demanded that CA explain his financial condition.
“Players need to know the absolute financial positions of the game and the players are not going to be greedy,” Paine said on ABC Radio.

“Our livelihood, everyone associated with the ACA and the players association, their livelihood depends on the game of cricket being healthy.
“So at this point, if there is a pay cut for us and that makes our game prosper well in the future, then that is something we will definitely have to consider.”
Paine also said he hopes India’s Australia tour, scheduled to begin in November this year, will stay on track as it would solve many of California’s financial problems.

“I think there is a little bit of protection against the potential of India not coming (on a tour in December / January) worth between $ 250 million and $ 300 million.”
“I hope they get here, that would solve a lot of problems.
“I know there have been some initial conversations with Cricket Australia and the government about the potential of what could be done, charter planes and isolate them when they arrive to make sure we can get India here,” Paine said.
