“The Last Dance,” a ten-part documentary about Michael Jordan’s last season with the Chicago Bulls, was recently released. Ever since the series garnered a large following, fans have been asking for a similar documentary on the legacy of the late Kobe Bryant.

Bryant played his twentieth and final season for the Lakers in 2016. With purple and gold for two decades, he established himself as a Lakers legend and arguably one of the best players in the NBA. His last year with the Lakers has been documented and preserved, according to ESPN’s Baxter Holmes.

At this distressing time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is indeed joyous news for the Lakers nation. Knowing that a documentary starring his beloved legend is being prepared would spark a beaming smile on his face.

“They had unprecedented access and by far greater access than anyone else.” said John Black, who headed the Lakers’ public relations department for 27 years, and was the last vice president. “We certainly allowed them to do as much as we could within what the league would allow, and sometimes, with a wink and look away, we allowed them even more.”

Considering that it would somehow be similar to Jordan’s version of how he will be portrayed, it would be comforting to relive the best moments of Bryant’s career. Witnessing the “Mamba Mind” described in a movie as a setting is a dream to behold.

Kobe Bryant’s best moments with the Lakers

Fans of the game remember several well-recorded moments from Kobe Bryant during his time in the NBA. There are numerous occasions when he emerged as the best player on the court. His match winning abilities are out of the question as he has demonstrated his ability.

Kobe has accomplished a lot in his career. For a man who has played for 20 years at the top, it is difficult to choose the best of the group. All selections in the basket are gold. Well, gold and purple were his life until the day of his death. So we list some of the best moments from Kobe’s extraordinary career, which deserve a special mention in the documentary. These achievements are historical and must be kept by the creators of the series.

Achieving mob three from 2000-02

The Los Angeles Lakers managed the triple mob under the skill of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. The couple’s dispute was the theme that stood out the most during their successful career. When O’Neal signed with the Lakers, he mentioned that he didn’t want “babysit” Bryant

The couple had multiple differences off the court and would not give in to each other’s statements. However, the team had a very talented lineup and Kobe was the cherry on top. They conquered the NBA for three consecutive seasons, and O’Neal won the Finals MVP award three times.

Amid many distractions, Kobe Bryant remained focused and kept his gaze on the prize. Her problem with Shaq was a constant intrusion into her mind. He put aside differences and played for the team’s ultimate goal. However, their enmity further evolved, which the team couldn’t bear after one point. Their eight years together as teammates ended when O’Neal was traded to the Miami Heat in 2004.

2010 NBA Finals

Kobe Bryant and the Lakers entered the 2010 NBA Finals as defending champions. They faced the Boston Celtics, which won the Eastern Conference. This was the third consecutive final for the Lakers after the loss to the Celtics in 2008 and the victory against the Orlando Magic in 2009.

The finals were intense. This was the first time in five years, an NBA Final extended to Game 7. Bryant’s addiction to victory pushed him to maximize his opponents.

The Lakers won Game 7 dramatically and claimed their 16th NBA overall title. Averaging 28.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, Kobe Bryant received Finals MVP honors and became a consecutive recipient of the award. Bryant was outstanding in the series and was 88.3% successful on free throws.

Kobe Bryant’s NBA Final Game

It was April 13, 2016 when Kobe Bryant was about to retire from the NBA. His success and accomplishments at the time were reflected in his legendary career in the league. Bryant’s last game came in the regular season against the Utah Jazz.

At 37, many would have predicted that he would go out, make a brief appearance, and score some points. Considering the Lakers’ form that season, it was difficult to disagree. But the Mamba, in its special form, somehow managed to go back the years with a stellar display.

Kobe contributed 60 points at night, to everyone’s surprise. He delivered a stunning performance to reach the milestone for the last time in his career. His game was amazing. Vintage Kobe had arrived on the scene once again. Fans were standing for the legend. The opposition couldn’t help but applaud as they looked at the veteran who just scored sixty against them. The perfect parting he deserved. The perfect farewell that his fans deserved.

The greatness of the mamba

The choices mentioned above are based only on our personal views and in celebration of Bryant’s legacy. He has produced so many individual moments to cherish in his career. For example, he emulated Michael Jordan while growing up. When Kobe topped Jordan on the all-time NBA scoring list, what a special moment it was! Clearly, there was no competition between the two, but overtaking your idol on the scoreboard is always a special moment.

January 22, 2006 is an unforgettable day. The day the Toronto Raptors faced Mamba’s ire. Bryant scored 81 points against the Raptors, which is the second-highest in NBA history. He gained 55 points in the second half to beat his opponents.

We can still name a long list of impressive achievements scaled by Kobe Bryant in the NBA. However, a documentary that highlights them all would be the most appropriate tribute to the legend itself. Keep your head up and cross your fingers, as the Mamba documentary release would be one of the best sports movies ever.
