The karting place was operated without a valid license from the competent authorities.
Two days after K Varshini, 21, a third-year engineering student, lost her life in a freak go-kart accident, Meerpet police in Hyderabad arrested three people in total, in connection with the case. The main defendants in the case are G Lohit Reddy, 29, and M Kiran Kumar, 30, both residents of Vanasthalipuram. They are the managing partners of Hasten Go-Karting, the Go-Karting headquarters where the tragic accident occurred on Wednesday. The third defendant in the case is K Srikanth, 23, who works at the karting center.
Sri Varshini was sitting together with his uncle in a twin kart and was among the first to drive ahead of the group of cousins and family friends. In the video that emerged later, it is seen that the duo were sitting in a green colored kart numbered 11. They were both wearing helmets and also had their masks. Before moving on, the man greets the woman recording the video and Sri Varshini also turns to the camera. It was during his second round that someone raised the alarm and a voice was heard shouting in shock.
According to the police, Hasten Go-Karting operated in Gurramguda without having a valid license from the competent authorities. They have also been accused of failing to take proper safety precautions while operating.
