Police used a light lathicharge charge and fired water cannons at farmers who had gathered in the state capital for their march to Raj Bhawan on Tuesday. The agitated farmers, who broke the lock on gate number 6 of the historic Gandhi Maidan and began their march towards Raj Bhawan through the busy Dak Bungalow junction, stopped midway.

Eyewitnesses said that thousands of farmers, under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sangharsh Samanvay Samiti and other left-wing parties, had gathered in Patna since early in the morning and started their march from the historic Gandhi Maidan.
At around 10 a.m., the farmers broke the lock on Gandhi Maidan’s door number 6 and also the barricade near the maidan and began to march towards Raj Bhawan through the Dak Bungalow junction, which the police opposed and resorted to a slight lay charge. Police also fired water cannons at marching farmers. The busy Dak Bungalow junction witnessed chaotic scenes as protesters ran rampant.
Peasants protesting with placards and banners raised slogans against the Center and the state government.
Earlier, CPI (ML) affiliate Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Mahasabha, Secretary of State Ramadhar Singh said that in addition to farmers, sharecroppers also participated in Raj Bhawan’s march. He said that the great assembly of farmers showed its second revolution against the government. “In the first protest against the zamindari system the peasants had shown their unity and now against these three controversial laws peasants across the country are in arms,” he said.
