NEW DELHI: Leader of the AAP and spokesperson Raghav Chadha On Monday he said that whoever calls farmers protesting the new agricultural marketing laws “anti-national” is against the country and should go to Pakistan.
The AAP MLA said some people refer to agitator farmers, who are the country’s food providers, as “anti-nationals.”
“I want to tell the people who call the farmers anti-nationals that you are the ones who are anti-national and you should go to Pakistan. They have no place in India,” Chadha said.
In response to Chadha’s comments, Delhi BJP spokesman Virender Babbar said that everyone supports the farmers, including the BJP.
“Chadha should say what he would call those who talk about killing the prime minister and demand the release of those arrested under sedition charge“Babbar said.
Several union ministers have repeatedly denounced that farmers ‘protests have been hijacked by Maoists, leftists and anti-national elements, a charge denied by the farmers’ union leaders leading the agitation.
On Sunday, the Prime Minister of Delhi Arvind kejriwal He also expressed his anguish over the issue, saying that some central ministers and BJP leaders were labeling protesting farmers as “traitors and anti-nationals.”
“I want to ask you, if so many ex-military, national and international athletes, singers and celebrities, lawyers and merchants who support and join the farmers, are they all anti-national?” he questioned.
Farmers have been camping at various border points in Delhi for nearly three weeks against the three farm laws enacted by the Center in September.
The three agricultural laws have been projected by the central government as important reforms in the agricultural sector that will eliminate intermediaries and allow farmers to sell their products anywhere in the country.
However, protesting farmers have expressed fear that the new laws would pave the way for removing the MSP’s safety cushion and ending the mandi system, leaving them at the mercy of large corporations.
