Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Monday that the central government will likely be able to provide COVID-19 vaccines to around 25-30 crore of people between July and August next year.

While speaking to the media, Harshvardhan said: “In the first 3-4 months of next year, there is a possibility that we can provide vaccines to the people of the country. By July-August, we have a plan to provide vaccines to around 25 -30 crore people and we are preparing accordingly. ”

However, he also reminded people to follow COVID-19 regulations until a vaccine is produced.

Frontline workers: The 2 trillion front-line workers, including municipal corporation personnel, police officers, and military personnel, would be immunized first against the coronavirus.

Old people: 26 million older people, over 50 years old, belonging to the age group of the high-risk category, are those who would receive the COVID-19 vaccine in the initial phase.

People of special category: Those under 50 years of age with comorbidities and who require other specialized care will also receive the dose of the vaccine in the initial phase.
