NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay raut on Sunday he said he met with the former prime minister of Maharashtra and leader of the BJP Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday to discuss certain issues and that both could have ideological differences but there was no enmity between the duo.
“I met with Devendra Fadnavis yesterday to discuss certain issues. He is a former Chief Minister. Also, he is the leader of the opposition in Maharashtra and Bihar Polls, in charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Our meeting was arranged because she wanted to take her interview for Saamna. For COVID-19 and other reasons, it could not materialize, “she said.
“There may be ideological differences, but we are not enemies. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was aware of our meeting. We were not sitting in a bunker, it was an open meeting,” he added.
In November of last year, Shiv Sena withdrew from the NDA, eventually leading to party leader Uddhav Thackeray becoming the Prime Minister of Maharashtra thanks to the support of Congress, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Raut also spoke about the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) withdrawing from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP.
“The strong pillars of the NDA were the Shiv Sena and the Akali Dal. We were in power and the opposition together. The Shiv Sena was forced to leave the NDA, now Akali Dal has left. They were with BJP since 1996. NDA I’ve got new allies, I wish them all the best. I don’t consider an alliance like NDA that doesn’t have Shiv Sena and Akali Dal, “Raut said speaking to reporters here.
Days after resigning from the union cabinet, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) decided on Saturday to withdraw from the BJP-led NDA alliance due to “the Center’s stubborn refusal to provide statutory legislative guarantees to protect the assured marketing of agricultural crops in MSP.”
