There is no dissent in the party, says Congress after Sonia’s strategy meeting | India News


NEW DELHI: President of Congress Sonia Gandhi On Saturday he met with a group of party leaders who had written him a letter a few months ago calling for a complete reform of the organization.
“There is no dissent in Congress, everyone is committed to working together to invigorate the party,” Congress leader Pawan Bansal said after the strategy meeting.
“Sonia Gandhi said that we are all one big family and we must work to strengthen the party,” Bansal added.
“Nobody has a problem with Rahul Gandhi, and this is not just for today. Everyone said we need Rahul gandhileadership. We must not fall into the trap of other people who are trying to distract from the party’s agenda, ”he said.
Former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said: “This was the first meeting on how to strengthen the party; there would also be a conclave on the Shimla, Panchmarhi lines.”
“We discussed the future of the party. It was a constructive meeting in which high-level leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka gandhi The current situation of the party and the ways to strengthen it were discussed, ”added Chavan.
Prithviraj Chavan was one of 23 leaders who had signed the written letter to Sonia Gandhi seeking organizational changes.
Other letter writers who attended today’s meeting included opposition leader in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, upper house deputy party leader Anand Sharma, former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and MPs. Manish Tewari, Vivek Tankha, and Shashi Tharoor.
This was the first time that Sonia Gandhi met congressional leaders in person since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
A number of issues were discussed at the meeting, including organizational elections, which is the key demand of disgruntled party leaders.
Congress has already decided to hold elections for the office of president of Congress and that process is underway.
The meeting was also attended by AK Antony, Ambika Soni, Ashok Gehlot and Harish Rawat, as well as Pawan Bansal.
