A woman in Hyderabad, who was discharged along with her two daughters to Gandhi Hospital on May 16 after undergoing treatment for Covid-19, stated that her 42 year old husband, also a Covid-19 patient, had disappeared.
The hospital authorities, however, declared that the man died the 1 of May and was cremated the following day by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) authorities, after duly informing the members of your family.
The woman, Alampally Madhavi in Vanasthalipuram colony, post on Twitter that her husband, A Madhusudhan (42), a rice mill worker, had not come home along with them when they were discharged on May 16. She tagged Telangana Information Technology minister KT Rama Rao in his tweet.
Madhavi complained to the minister that her husband was admitted to the King Kothi Hospital on the 27th of April, and later taken to Gandhi Hospital on the 30th of April.
Madhavi also said that the hospital authorities had not taken their permission to complete the process and had not even shown the body of identification. That had not been presented any evidence as to the cremation of video, photos, or your belongings to it.
“On the 16th of May, when we were discharged, we questioned the hospital authorities about my husband, but did not give the proper response. First it was said that it was still on the ventilator, but later said that he was not alive. We ask you to help in the exploration of my husband lost a case,” he said.
Gandhi Hospital superintendent Dr M Raja Rao issued a statement claiming that the woman’s husband, who was also suffering from bilateral pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome, had succumbed to Covid-May 19, 1 p.m., a day after he was admitted in the hospital.
“As for the procedure, the members of the family were informed and following the protocol, the body was handed over to the police and his recognition was taken. On request, it is known that the body was cremated by the GHMC. All due procedures were followed,” he said.
While sympathising with Madhavi family, Rao said it was wrong to defame the hospital and the doctors and other staff to treat hundreds of Covid-19 patients are risking their lives.
Madhavi told reporters that she strongly believes that her husband was alive. She is opposed to the claim of Gandhi, director of the Hospital that the family was informed about the tragedy.
