JAMMU: A senior BSF official said on Saturday that a major underground tunnel found in Samba, from PakistanIt was built with the knowledge and “hand” of the neighboring nation.
The BSF Inspector General’s comments (Jammu border) NS Jamwal came after the Border security force (BSF) detected a tunnel just below the India-Pak international border fence in the Galar area of ​​Samba.

He praised the force personnel for their alertness when detecting the tunnel, saying: “We were getting information that a tunnel was dug on the Pakistan side at Samba. We were working on the information when one of our teams managed to locate it on Friday. night.”
Jamwal, who rushed to inspect the tunnel on Saturday morning, told reporters that it was dug from the Pakistani side and was more than 150 meters into Indian territory.
The tunnel opening was duly reinforced with sandbags bearing “Karachi and Shakargarh” markings, clearly indicating that it was excavated on the Pakistani side and ended here, he said.
The IG said preliminary investigation revealed that it was a newly dug tunnel.
“There is hand and knowledge of the establishment of Pakistan in this type of construction,” said Jamwal.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the BSF said that the tunnel was unearthed in a special anti-tunnel unit that was launched along the IB in the Jammu region in view of the prevailing security scenario of late.
