The long-awaited Skoda Karoq 2020 is likely to launch in India in the coming weeks and cost just over Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Until a few years ago, Skoda India enjoyed quite a solid representation in the premium segment of small SUVs with the highly capable Yeti. Today, however, the only SUV in its portfolio is the much larger and more expensive Kodiaq, but things will definitely change in the near future. The company will soon launch the Skoda Kodiaq, the mechanical twin of the recently introduced VW T-Roc.
Pre-orders for the premium small SUV are already underway for a symbolic amount of Rs 50,000. The new model should be launched as soon as the current situation of people who are not allowed to leave home ends. As you may already know, the Skoda Karoq will be taken to India via the CBU route and, like the VW T-Roc, it will be sold in a single variant that will be loaded to your guts with various features of comfort, convenience and safety . .
The list of features includes bits like a touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, a fully digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, automatic headlights and wipers, and interior mood lighting package . The offered safety kit will include several bits, like a full 9-airbag quote, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and an electric parking brake.
The Skoda Karoq will be sold in up to six color options, including Candy White, Magnetic Brown, Lava Blue, Magic Black, Brilliant Silver, and Quartz Gray. The power of the Karoq will be a 1.5-liter TSI EVO engine to be shared with the VW T-Roc. It will have active cylinder management technology. The engine produces a maximum power of 150PS, while transmission tasks are performed by a 7-speed DSG automatic unit.
Specifications remain the same for both T-Roc and Karoq and the two models will not get a diesel option any time soon. The Skoda Karoq will be priced a little higher than Rs 20 lakh and will reach us via the CBU route. It will continue to rival people like VW T-Roc and Jeep Compass.
