The Railways blamed “the cooking of the problems (and) cyclonic conditions in the east” by the delays this morning at the opening of online bookings for 200 regular passenger trains scheduled to run from 1 June.
The booking for the passenger trains that will run after the coronavirus lock ending May 31, had been scheduled to open at the IRCTC web site of the application and at 10 in the morning, but, as the minutes ticked past, the reports of the tickets is not available emerged, prompting the Railways to issue a clarification.
The Railways said that the delay in “firing train” could be due to the fact that “many people log in at the same time,” and “200 trains will take time to be active in the systems of booking”. It also noted that weather conditions in the east – where the Cyclone Amphan battered Bengal and parts of Odisha on Wednesday, leaving at least 12 dead and damage worth a reported Rs 1 lakh crore.
Starting at 11 am, the data of 69 trains had been entered into the system and the tickets were being reserved for some non-AC services. Three minutes before the IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) tweeted: “the Website is working well. “The cooking of the trains is a long exercise and refers to the loading of all the information related to the trip in the system. This is done simultaneously for both source and destination areas. Due to cyclonic conditions in the east, the dismissal of the final is expected to be affected for some time,” the Railways said in its statement.
“All are advised to have patience. Indian Railways is to do it gradual restoration to ensure the maximum number of people can move in these conditions,” the statement added.
On Wednesday, the Railways, said regular passenger trains -in addition to the “shramik” and passenger extras already in execution from the next month. These trains are included in both the AC and non-AC coaches, the railways, pointed out.
The decision to run these trains came days after the centre extended the coronavirus security lock for a third time, but he raised the bar in service of buses and other public transport.
Passengers will be assessed for the COVID-19 infection prior to shipment and only asymptomatic passengers are allowed to travel. Symptomatic passengers will get a full refund.
