Former Union Finance Minister and chief congressman P Chidambaram welcomed the transfer of the Center on Monday to begin work on some passenger trains from Might 12 amid the coronavirus blockade.

“The same modest opening should start with road transport and air transport,” Chidambaram said in a tweet.

He mentioned that opening highway, rail, and airline companies for passengers and goods is the only solution to begin the financial and industrial exercise within the nation.

“We welcome the government’s decision to cautiously start interstate passenger train operations,” the Chidambaram tweet read.

Central authorities reported Sunday that 15 interstate passenger trains will start operating from Might 12 after the companies stopped in March as a result of the enforcement of the national coronavirus blockade.

Trains will run from New Delhi connecting Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Central Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.

The passenger ticket booking method will begin at 4pm at this time through the online booking service offered on the IRCTC website.
