The recovery rate in India is about 40%, even as new cases spike

Although India reported record single day increase in the number of new cases of coronavirus, the rate of recovery advanced by close to 40%. And recoveries in the last 24 hours exceeded the increase in assets Covid of the cases.

Of the 140 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, 76 were from Maharashtra, 25 from Gujarat, six each in West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh, five each in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, three each in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana, two each from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, and one each of Odhisha and Punjab.

Of the 3,303 deaths, Maharashtra leads the tally with 1,325 deaths. Gujarat comes second with 719 deaths, followed by Madhya Pradesh at 258, West Bengal, in 250, Delhi, 168, Rajasthan in the 143, Uttar Pradesh, in the 123, Tamil Nadu, in the 84 and Andhra Pradesh, in the 52. (With Agency Inputs)
