The Rajiv Gandhi Hospital will have the first vaccine storage; All of Delhi can be vaccinated in just one month, says immunization officer

The capital, which is currently under the control of the third and deadliest phase of Covid-19, can be vaccinated a month after the vaccination begins, Delhi’s state immunization officer Suresh Seth said. The Capital has enough infrastructure to cover the entire population in a month if hospital staff and nurses are tied down, the official said. And the infrastructure is adequate to vaccinate all healthcare professionals in just three days. Meanwhile, Delhi’s Rajiv Gandhi Superspecialty Hospital has been chosen as the first vaccine storage facility.

This is how the Capital prepares for vaccination

> There are 600 cold storage points and around 1,800 outreach sites that have been used for the immunization of children.

> While they will be used, according to the Center’s draft vaccination campaign, school campuses will also be added to the existing vaccination infrastructure.

> Currently, the Delhi government is collecting data on the health workers who will be vaccinated first.

> The Delhi facility can store vaccines between two and eight degrees Celsius.

> Delhi government’s Rajiv Gandhi super specialty hospital to be converted into a Covid-19 vaccine storage facility, according to reports. The center will start operating in mid-December.

Most vaccines in India should be stored at a temperature of two to eight degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature at which vaccines can be kept to maintain the cold chain in most areas of the country is minus 25 degrees Celsius, as there is only one vaccine in India, the Rotavirus vaccine from Bharat Biotech, which should be stored at minus 20 degrees Celsius. .
