The railways will start more trains, open a ticket booking counters soon

The Indian Railways has decided to start more trains in the coming days, and also allow without train connection, booking of tickets through the counters at specific stations and common service centres across India in the next few days.

“We will announce the resumption of more trains in the coming days. We have also allowed the operation of the stores in the train stations. However, only the results will be allowed,” the Rail Minister Piyush Goyal, he said, adding that now is the time to take India towards the normal.

He also announced that the reservation of train tickets will resume at around 1.7 lakh common service centres from tomorrow across India. Common Service Centres are the physical facilities for the provision of electronic services of the government in rural areas and remote locations where availability of computers and internet is negligible or non-existent.

The minister also said that the reserves are also summarized in the counters at specific stations in the next two or three days.

“We are developing a protocol to identify the seasons…we will also soon announce the resumption of more trains,” Goyal said during a conversation with his party colleague BJP and spokesperson Sambit Patra.

The minister said that there are many people who want to go back to work in cities, which is a very good sign.

“Some states do not cooperate with us to run special trains for the shipment of the return of migrant workers to their homes. I think there are about 40 lakh people who want to go back to West Bengal, but only 27 special trains have entered the state up to the time,” Goyal said.

The railroad began the Shramik Special trains for the transport of the chain of migrant workers, students, pilgrims and tourists from the 1st of May. The national carrier also started to run the 15 pairs of AC Special trains from May 12.

On Thursday, the reserves for the 100 pairs of trains open and in the first two bour, the railroads sold 1.49 lakh tickets to 2.9 lakh passengers in the 73 trains.

A senior Railway Ministry official said that before 12 noon, and 73 trains were made available in the reserve system.

“And in the first two hours 1,49,025 tickets reserved for 2,90,510 the passengers,” the official said.

The tickets are being booked online through the IRCTC website and mobile app.
