The railroads cite the ‘COVID protocol’, refer the state government proposal to the Railroad Board

In a letter to the Secretary for Disaster Management, Railways said: “This will be necessary in view of the current COVID protocols and the requirement to maintain social distancing.”

He also suggested that a joint meeting between Railways officials and the State government should be organized to define the modalities.

Also noting that the proposal sent by the government will be referred Railway board For approval, Railways said that “the further course of action and the date of permission for the passengers to travel will be decided accordingly.”

The decision of the Maharashtra government to allow all women to ride the trains is the first step the government has taken to make services available to all amid increasing demand from all sectors.

Until now, local train services are only available to those belonging to essential categories. Because of that, travelers working in other industries have been spending a great deal of money and time getting back and forth.

Considering the increased crowds, the government has also allowed subway trains in Mumbai, and operations will resume from October 19.
