The prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders have increased by ₹25 each on Monday. If you live in Delhi, now you will have to fork out ₹819 for a 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder compared to ₹794 in which they were delivered on Sunday.
The new price in Kolkata is ₹845, the highest among the four main meters. In Mumbai, the cylinder now costs ₹819 and in Chennai ₹835. In Hyderabad, it is ₹871.50 ( ₹821.50).
The fourth upward revision in just four weeks has made cooking gas refills more expensive in ₹125 each for households. Since February, gas rates for cooking in Delhi have increased for the fourth time. Prices were first raised by ₹25 on February 4 and then by ₹50 on February 14. On February 25, prices rose again by ₹25.
In December, the price of domestic cylinders had increased by ₹100 each. The national oil trading companies Indian Oil Corporation, BPCL and HPCL had increased the price by ₹50 twice.
Prices for LPG cylinders were unchanged in January. The latest revision results in a ₹225 increase in cooking gas prices in four months.
The rise comes at a time when prices for gasoline and diesel have risen in India amid rising prices on the world market.
