The Conference of the Peoples of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), part of the People’s Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), requested on Monday the early hearing of the petitions challenging the repeal of Article 370 and the Reorganization Act of J&K of 2019 in the Supreme Court (SC).
Shortly after the invalidity of articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution, various political parties, civil society groups and individuals challenged the decision before the Supreme Court.

Peoples’ Conference spokesman Adnan Ashraf said the request has indicated that the petitioners have presented a very strong prima facie case and that the issues raised are being considered by a constitutional tribunal of this tribunal.
“Notwithstanding the above, pending the final hearing of these petitions challenging the abrogation of the special status of the former State of Jammu and Kashmir and the abrogation of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, and despite the prevailing pandemic, the conditions , radical changes are being promoted by the Center that impact the rights of a large number of people, including the dilution of the safeguards previously available to the permanent residents of the former State of Jammu and Kashmir, ”says the lawsuit in court.
He said the app has also mentioned that these changes will have an irreparable impact on the rights of J&K citizens, including creating domicile rights and third party rights in land ownership.

“The very purpose of this process will be seriously undermined if the present petitions are not heard and resolved urgently. Suffice it to say that the suffering of the people continues as conquered without a fully responsible government. In view of the foregoing, this petition and the petitions attached thereto must be heard and resolved urgently, as the Center has already made significant changes to the rights of residents of the former State of Jammu and Kashmir. “
National Conference (Vice President Omar Abdullah said the decision to request an early hearing on the petitions was made by the PAGD leadership. “As decided at the recent People’s Alliance meeting, we are seeking early hearings on this matter, so that the petitions challenging on August 5, 2019 are moving forward, ”tweeted Omar Abdullah.
On August 5, 2019, the central government had rescinded J & K’s special status in Parliament.
