The Pentagon has released three declassified videos, previously posted by a private company, showing US Navy pilots encountering what appears to be unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
The United States Department of Defense (DOD) said it authorized the release of three videos, one taken in November 2004 and the other two in January 2015, “which have been circulating in the public domain after unauthorized releases in 2007 and 2017 “.
“DOD is releasing the videos to clear up any misconceptions from the public as to whether or not the footage they’ve been circulating was real, or if there is more to the videos. The aerial phenomena observed in the videos continue to be characterized as “unidentified,” a statement said on its website.
“After a thorough review, the department has determined that the authorized publication of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems, and does not affect subsequent investigations of incursions into military airspace by unidentified air phenomena,” said the release.
The three videos, the veracity of which was confirmed by the Pentagon in 2019, show what the pilots saw during training flights in 2004, when they found a 40-foot-long object floating about 50 feet above the water, and in 2015 .
Two of the videos, published by the New York Times in 2017, show oblong objects moving fast across the sky and a pilot, in a video yelling, “Look at that, buddy. It’s spinning! “
