The parliamentary committee warns the Center against accelerating the authorization of vaccines


The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Internal Affairs recommended on Monday that emergency use authorization should be granted to any coronavirus vaccine in the country only after proper consideration and conducting its trials with a sufficient sample size.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government decided on Monday to send flyers from Europe and the Middle East to institutional quarantine for two weeks. This came after a new, highly infectious strain of the coronavirus was found in the UK. India has banned all flights from the UK until December 31. The suspension will go into effect at 11:59 pm on December 22.

India’s coronavirus count reached 1,00,55,560 after 24,337 new cases were reported in 24 hours. The country’s death toll increased by 333 to 1,45,810. Active cases from India stood at 3.03.639, while the number of recoveries reached 96.06.111. The recovery rate was set at 95.53% and the mortality rate at 1.45%.

Globally, the coronavirus has infected more than 7.67 million people and killed more than 16.92 lakh, according to Johns Hopkins University. More than 4.32 million people have recovered from the infection.
