The owner of ‘Baba ka Dhaba’ opens a new restaurant in South Delhi, India and China on the menu

“A chef and his assistant we have hired are busy cooking Indian and Chinese food. We will start serving it as soon as they are ready. Indian food, Chawal-Dal, Roti and Subzi, will be cut for 50 rupees per plate, the same rate we charge in our old restaurant. The chef and my son will decide the rhythm of the Chinese food, ”said Prasad.

Prasad, his wife, Badaami Devi, and their son, Azad Hind, opened their new restaurant in Malviya Nagar, a few hundred meters from their roadside restaurant that the couple ran for decades. They have rented the space for the new Baba Ka Dhaba restaurant for 35,000 rupees a month. The family has invested Rs5 lakh in renovating and purchasing items to run the new restaurant, Prasad said.

“The new restaurant has a kitchen, a bathroom, and six tables along with chairs that can accommodate at least 20 customers at a time,” Prasad said. He added that the donations that entered his account after the video went viral helped him start his new restaurant.

“Starting a new restaurant was the idea of ​​the people who supported me or donated money,” he said.

Prasad said that from morning until noon, he will run the restaurant and then his son will take over. “With this new restaurant, we are proving our fortune in business. I hope people will come to our new restaurant and support us, ”he said. She added that her son was unemployed after losing his job as a hospital ward child.

Prasad said free meals were served to 50 to 60 people on Monday.

In the viral video, a watery-eyed Prasad was seen interacting with YouTube “influencer” Gaurav Wasan about how the Covid-19 pandemic affected his business. Later, Prasad filed a police complaint against Wasan for the alleged misappropriation of funds. He accused Wasan of sharing the bank details and phone numbers of his family and friends with donors to collect donations and mislead him. Wasan has denied the allegations.

Delhi Police have searched Wasan on charges of cheating.
