The opposition must unite, strengthen the UPA, says Raut de Sena

Amid the rumor that the head of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Sharad Pawar, could become the president or coordinator of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), Shiv Sena suggested on Friday the formation of a new front of all opposition parties, such as Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi in the state. . The leader of the Seine and main spokesman, Sanjay Raut, also supported Pawar to head the UPA or be its convener so that more opposition parties participate.

The Shiv Sena, after breaking ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), resigned from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), but has yet to formally join the UPA.

“Considering the current political situation, the country’s Opposition must unite and make some decisions. The Congress is a huge party, but it is also a fact that they could not get the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha. In this scenario, we must all unite and strengthen the UPA. Can there be a front like the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra, and who can lead it? All of this can be discussed, ”Raut told reporters in Mumbai.

The Seine MP is expected to leave for New Delhi over the weekend where discussions on the new political dynamics could take place.

Pawar, for his part, denied that there is a proposal to make him president of the UPA, a position currently held by the president of Congress, Sonia Gandhi.

Raut said that Pawar is a “tall” leader of the country. In recent weeks, the Sena’s chief spokesman has also said that the Maratha strongman has the ability to unite the dispersed opposition parties in the country against the BJP.

“If Pawar saheb becomes the president of UPA, we will be happy. However, we are not seeing such development occur. Yesterday, Pawar saheb has also denied it. Sharad Pawar is a senior leader of the country and Maharashtra. We are all working under his direction, but so far there is no formal proposal to elect him as president of the UPA. If there is such a proposal, we will support it, “he added.

Meanwhile, the congressional leader and former deputy Sanjay Nirupam called for political development to “end” the Congress party. “The campaign against Rahul Gandhi from Delhi to Mumbai is part of the campaign to make Sharad Pawar president of the UPA. The 23-signature letter was written under the same campaign. The “inconsistency” of Rahulji’s leadership was part of the same campaign. This is a great plan to end Congress, ”Nirupam tweeted.

Nirupam was referring to the letter written by 23 congressional leaders seeking radical changes in the party, even as the “lack of coherence” referred to a comment made by Pawar about Rahul Gandhi during an interview last week.
